Seeking the beauty of simplicity.
When it comes to our statement of faith, we strive for simplicity. Our commitment to simplicity comes from our conviction that lasting unity is not found in agreement over layers upon layers of doctrine but in the essential defining experience of discovering Jesus (and his way) to be central to the meaning of life and human flourishing. So, the simple confession spoken by Peter, born out of his personal discovery, “Lord, there is no one else that we can go to! Your words give eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God,” is a beautiful and sufficient statement of faith in our eyes.
Following the tradition set by the early church to define the essentials of orthodox Christian faith in terms of simplicity and brevity, we affirm the Apostles and Nicene Creeds.
Our statement of faith guides our community but is not a requirement for participation or belonging. We welcome all who are interested in exploring the way of Jesus and His beloved community, regardless of where they may be on their spiritual journey. While we affirm the basic tenets of the Christian faith, we do so humbly, acknowledging there is a great deal of mystery present. We value intellectual honesty, doubt, and questions as natural and fitting aspects of the spiritual journey.
